In recent years, the phenomenon of transnational repression has emerged as a critical challenge in the context of human rights protection in South-East Asia. Governments and non-state actors are increasingly resorting to extraterritorial measures to silence, intimidate and control dissidents, activists and minorities living abroad.

Countries in South-East Asia are no exception. There has been a worrying increase in transnational repression in the South-East Asian region, affecting political dissidents in exile, ethnic and religious minorities, human rights defenders and refugees. This worrying trend not only undermines international human rights standards, but also poses a significant threat to regional stability and the rule of law
Against this background, Cross Cultural Foundation is collaborating with the OHCHR Regional Office for South-East Asis, the Nelson Mandela Center of Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University (@คณะรัฐศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย), the Cross-Cultural Foundation, @Border Voices เพื่อนไร้พรมแดน, @ALTSEAN-Burma to organize a public seminar ‘Justice has no Boundary: Uniting Against Enforced Disappearance and Confronting Transnational Repression’
