Throughout Thai history, a number of truth-seeking commissions or committees have been established following grave and mass human rights violations. Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Thailand (TRCT) was an independent organization with a mission to uncover the truth about the incidents of violence and human rights violations during the crackdowns on the Red Shirt demonstrations in April and May 2010.

The operation of TRCT, however, faced many challenges and criticism. We will learn from their challenges, problems and obstacles by examining the TRCT report and academic criticism to improve the truth-seeking measures method for future mass human rights violations.
