Press Release You are invited to attend the inquest trial decision hearing on 5 villagers killed in Krong Pinang, Yala Province” on 27th August 2013 at Yala criminal court
On 19th April 2012, Police special force led by Pol.Maj. Kannchit Panchan with 12 para-military officers jointly attacked a group of 7-8 suspect insurgent in a hut located in a fruit orchard at Moo 6 Sa-e village, Sa-e subdistric, Krong Pinang district, Yala province The officers shot 5 persons deaths. There are Mr. Sakueri Japakeeya 37 years old, Mr. Ismael Paetoh 18 years old, Mr. Tushkeeree Yayor 23 years old, Mr. Lookmun Dueramae 19 years old, Mr. Sumree Dueramae 18 years old. On 16th August 2012, Yala Public Prosecutor filed the inquest trial Black file no. ช7/2555 to Yala Court.
The Yala court had finished their examination of the evidence in July 2013 and scheduled for the reading of court decision on the inquest trial on 27th August 2013 9.00am at Yala criminal court.
In addition, Mr. Ismael Paetoh ’s parents, Mr.Lookmun and Sumree Dueramae ‘s parents insisted that these 3 young men were not insurgent. The three boys are good students and they just returned home for school break from their boarding schools a few days before the killing incident.
On the incident day, Ismael and Sumree were together going out to trap for birds in the jungle. Mr.Lookmun (Mr.Sumree’s brother) went to called them to return home but end up that three young men were also shot death during the special operation by officials. Their parents requested assistance from human rights organizations. MAC and CrCF had assigned lawyers to assist them in the inquest trial.
Furthermore on 2 May 2012, the parents and MAC submitted the petition to Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPACT). Then, 16th July 2012 Pol.Maj. Tavee SodSong, Secretary of Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPACT) set up an investigative committee to look into the case on 19th April 2012. Now, this panel had already finalized the report to SBPACT. However, the report did not make available for public.
