Mr. Chaiwat Limlikhit-aksorn alleges him criminal and libel lawsuit related to defamation

The Minburi Provincial Court on 18th November acquired Mr. Wut Boonlert , Karen Human rights defender in which Mr. Chaiwat Limlikhit-aksorn alleges him criminal and libel lawsuit related to defamation. The court stated that the Facebook post related to “ Chairatchaphruek Farm” is justified as public interest to request for investigation to the corruption.  The court has read the verdict acquitted both Mr. Wut , Defendant no.2 and Mr. Samar Donnapee, Defendant no. 3

This case is in connection with pending Criminal Case No. Aor 6246/2561 filed by the prosecutor to the Minburi Provincial Court on 2nd August 2018, in which Mr. Chaiwat Limlikhit-aksorn (former Chief of Kaeng Krachan National Park and former head of the Phaya Sua, or “King Tiger”, wildlife crimes taskforce) filed a libel suit against Mr. Wut Boonlert or Ajarn Wut

(an independent human rights scholar working for the Karen ethnic group) and Mr. Samak Donnapee (former Director of the Bureau of National Park). Mr. Chaiwat later on requested to be a co-plaintiff seeking 2 million baht in damages. The witness hearing in this case have been completed.

Mr. Wut Boonlert has defended that he did not post defamatory statement as alleged by Mr. Chaiwat. In fact, he has posted the content about the Chairatchaphruek Farm which has been investigated by the media and published in the public domain. The lawsuit could be abusive or a bad faith claim.

The Minburi Provincial Court’s verdict announcement will be on 18th November 2019 at 09:00 hrs. in which Mr. Chaiwat

Limlikhit-aksorn alleged an independent human rights scholar working for the Karen ethnic group of libel.
