5 July 2017- a date to remember
The day that we’ve been working for is here. Or wait, WAS here.
Let us skip the foreplay and get to the point. We were requested to submit additional information on the night before the review. None of us could foresee how much of the things we did the past few days, all the little things, would have mattered. Today we saw and learned, that everything did matter.
We were in solidarity and no one was left behind. The CEDAW committee efficiently raised all the urgent issues regarding the situation on the rights of women in Thailand.
What is going to happen next is that the committee will put together a set of recommendations to the state based on the review and the reports. They will be available online in a couple of weeks.
Our job now is to pass on what has been acknowledged and gained here to everyone back home, with hope for improvement of the women rights situation in Thailand. The changes that we are working for will not be seen in any near future but that does not stop us from doing what we believe in.
To us and to all the women out there who are the best source of inspirations.
Cheers!
