On 20 June 2017, Civil society organisations and individuals has signed in a open letter to  the Constitutional Drafting Committee (CDC) who has drafted the Organic Law on the National Human Rights Commission B.E…. which shall be proposed for reading by the National Legislative Assembly (NLA). The letter provided rational and recommendation urging both NLA and CDC  that the drafting of the organic law has been made without adequate public consultation. Comprehensive public consultation would ensure that the drafting of the organic law is made based on participation of all concerned parties. That the organic law is drafted in compliance with the Paris Principles on the establishment and implementation of the National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) which has been endorsed by Thailand shall help to pave the way for the upgrading of NHRC from B to A in the future. It shall make NHRC an organization that the public can rely on in terms of the protection, upholding and promotion of human rights.
